TOPSOIL PRODUCTS
SCREENED TOPSOIL
Topsoil is the upper, outermost layer of soil, usually the top 5 inches (13 cm) to 10 inches (25 cm). It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is where most of the Earth's biological soil activity occurs.
OVERBURDEN
Overburden Soil is a general, unprocessed, fill material that contains a variety of different materials. Overburden Soil contains sand, rocks, clay and stones, and will typically lack the organic material and nutrients found in topsoil.
SCREENED (SHED) TOPSOIL
Shed refers to topsoil stored in a covered facility, this helps keep it dry and avoids clumping when wet.
